Wouter Van Roost - Chief Executive Officer

Since graduating from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel with a Masters degree in Literature and Philosophy, Wouter has had a distinguished career in business and advertising. He has worked as an Account Director / Strategic Planner for a selection of the world's leading advertising companies and has founded two service businesses: a strategy consultancy firm and an international marketing group.

Moving to the high-tech sector, Wouter successfully served in a range of senior management roles including Marketing Director for RAM Mobile Data, Vice-president of Option International and Associate Director in charge of customer services for a major Belgian mobile phone operator, before joining Philips. In January 2004, Wouter was appointed CEO of Handshake Solutions.

"It's an exciting time to be involved with Handshake Solutions, as we make our revolutionary technology available to a wider community."

Rik van de Wiel - Chief Operations Officer

Following his MSc in Computer Science from the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Rik began working for Philips Research on Handshake Technology. In 1996, Rik joined the Compiler Technology Group where he led a research project that developed a compression technology which is currently used in most Philips GSM handsets.

As manager of the Synthesis department within Philips Electronic Design & Tools, Rik helped develop and implement a commercial business model for Handshake Technology and has been the Handshake Solutions' COO since January 2004.

"Teamwork and a customer-oriented approach are key elements of the Handshake Solutions business model."

Ad Peeters - Chief Technical Officer

Ad has been working on self-timed circuits since 1988, when he started his MSc at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. He has been involved in numerous activities related to clockless design and his subsequent PhD thesis 'Single-rail handshake circuits' (also from the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven) forms the basis of Handshake Solutions' Handshake Technology.

In 1995, Ad began working for Philips to develop and industrialize Handshake Technology and in January 2004 he became CTO at Handshake Solutions.

"Taking Handshake Technology from concept to usable methodology has been a very satisfying challenge - and the challenge continues as we move into the open market."

Marc Oosterveen - International Sales Manager

Marc joined Handshake Solutions as International Sales Manager in 2004. Before that he held several positions within Royal Philips Electronics, including five years at Philips Semiconductors. During this time he was responsible for all IC design technology purchases covering amongst others EDA tools, IP and services.

Marc holds a degree in business engineering from Universiteit Twente in the Netherlands.

"Handshake Solutions is a dynamic organization offering customers something that nobody else can."

Arjan Bink - Chief Design Engineer

Arjan is another graduate of the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, having studied computer science and technological design. In 1995, Arjan joined Philips Research where he was involved in numerous processor-related projects looking at power reduction, clockless design, code compaction and processor architectures such as microprocessors, digital signal processors and multi-processor configurations. He then spent two years in the Strategic ASIC Group at Philips Semiconductors working on advanced prototyping architectures and System-on-Chip (SoC) design.

Arjan joined Handshake Solutions in 2003 and is responsible for self-timed processor design.

"In terms of self-timed design, Handshake Solutions is the place to be. We have a unique blend of commercial technology, patent protection and business experience."

Bert Smeets – Product and Project Manager

By joining Handshake Solutions in 2005 Bert has effectively returned to his roots, continuing the work he carried out on parallel systems and Haste during his computer science and technological design studies at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. After graduating in 1994, Bert has gone on to manage a wide variety of product, project and program implementations within Philips – from the timely delivery of new RF (Radio Frequency) design environments to conducting various quality assessments and audits (CMM / ISO / PBE / EFQM).

“Project management is a lot like Handshake Technology. You always need to be aware of what resources are available, but you only want to wake them up when you need them.”
