Eindhoven, March 1, 2007 - The clockless 32-bit ARM996HS processor core is among the first group of winners of In-Stat's eighth annual MPR Analysts' Choice Awards. Developed jointly by Handshake Solutions and ARM, this commercially available 32-bit processor core implemented in asynchronous logic was nominated in the new 'Innovation' category for 2006. In particular, In-Stat's analysts highlighted the power efficiency and extremely low electromagnetic emissions (EME) of this flexible core.

"We are pleased to receive this prestigious In-Stat award together with ARM", says Rik van de Wiel, COO of Handshake Solutions. "We see this as a recognition of our joint efforts to introduce clockless technology to a wide range of ARM-based applications. The ARM996HS core is more than just a 32-bit clockless product as it opens up a complete new generation of low-power and low emission electronic designs".

"Product innovation is fundamental to the long-term growth of the semiconductor industry," said John Cornish, VP Marketing for Processor Division at ARM. "Together with Handshake Solutions, we are honored to receive the prestigious Innovation award from Microprocessor Report for our jointly developed ARM966HS processor. Through innovative design and implementation we have demonstrated the benefits of clockless technology, including super low noise and low power."

As the lowest power ARM9E family processor to support real-time applications, the ARM996HS processor offers designers unprecedented flexibility to build more features into their systems. It also helps reduce design costs by simplifying integration with analog and RF circuitry and enabling the re-use of AMBA® AHB™ interconnect compatible peripheral components. Particularly suited to automotive, medical, low-cost battery-operated consumer electronics and deeply embedded control applications, it can also be used in safety-critical systems requiring real-time response.

Handshake Technology is the industry's first commercial design methodology for creating clockless ICs. It offers designers a simple and robust method for accessing the benefits of clockless designs, such as low power consumption, low EME and low current peaks. This enables more functionality to be squeezed into even the tightest energy budget and simplifies system integration.
